Does Exercise Help You Lose Weight?
Saturday February 9th 2008, 5:40pm
As well as a sore arm, I have managed to injure my lower back too. I'm not quite sure how, but having never really suffered from back pain before, I now know how debilitating it can be. I did however make it to the gym last night for an hour and did some light bag work and 10-15 minutes on the running machine. But I'm actually beginning to wonder just how much a part of the weight loss equation exercise actually plays. more...
Why It Pays To Look At Food Labels If You Want To Lose Weight
Monday February 4th 2008, 11:08am
Yesterday I enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast. Roast pork with apple sauce, roast potatoes and carrots followed by pavlova with fresh strawberries and kiwi fruit. Yum yum. I didn't go overboard with the portion sizes and at a guess probably consumed 600-800 calories. I say at a guess because I'm not usually one to check how many calories are in the food I eat, but I'm learning to do so more and more - with often shocking results. more...
How To Lose Weight And Still Eat Crisps And Chocolate
Saturday February 2nd 2008, 11:56am
I've just dug up some research regarding New Year's Resolutions. It was from 2004, but seeing as we are creatures of habit, I'm sure it holds true today. Apparently, nine million Brits make New Year's Resolutions every year - with financial resolutions the most popular followed by giving up smoking, going on a diet (six times as many women as men plump for this one), exercising more and drinking less. more...

I weighed myself this morning and my bathroom scales tell me that I now weigh 12 stone 7lb. So I've lost 3lb this month when my target was 4-5lb. I'm quite pleased with myself actually. My new scales were not in place at the start of the month and may well have had me heavier than my start weight of 12 stone 10lb. So maybe I have lost 4 or 5lbs. more...
The Scales Don't Lie
Monday January 28th 2008, 10:46am
My battle of the bulge had until this weekend lacked one vital weapon. A pair of bathroom scales. But on Saturday I decided to splash out and buy some. That's the good news. The bad news is that they say I weight 12 stone 9lb - meaning that almost a month into my war against fat I have apparently only lost one measly pound. Hardly the stuff of legend. more...
Fat People To Be Paid To Lose Weight
Thursday January 24th 2008, 12:20pm
According to today's newspapers, overweight and obese people could soon be paid to lose weight under plans being considered by the Government. Sounds like a good idea to me - not least because I could do with losing some weight as we all know and I'm not going to say no to free money. more...
Not A Great Day At The Gym
Friday January 18th 2008, 9:11pm
I went to the gym today with great intentions, but ended up making a bit of a fool of myself. Not that that's unusual. My plan had been to try one of my Sweatz Training vests while pounding away on a running machine. more...
Can Sweating Help You Lose Weight?
Tuesday January 15th 2008, 3:11pm
The postman delivered two packages today that I've been eagerly awaiting - my very own copy of The Calorie Carb And Fat Bible and a packet of Sweatz Training vests, the makers of which claim I can burn an extra 600 calories per workout session by wearing one. But does sweating really help you lose weight?

Don't Believe Everything You Read - Especially Food Labels

Wednesday January 9th 2008, 1:17am
A new addition to my daily diet - 500ml of semi-skimmed milk with 50g of strawberry flavoured whey protein powder. It makes around two glasses' worth and I am drinking it instead of eating a meal in the evenings. What does it give me? Well, protein for a start. more...
