How To Lose Weight - It Really Is This Simple

The Scales Don't Lie
Monday January 28th 2008, 10:46am

My battle of the bulge had until this weekend lacked one vital weapon. A pair of bathroom scales. But on Saturday I decided to splash out and buy some.

That's the good news.

The bad news is that they say I weight 12 stone 9lb - meaning that almost a month into my war against fat I have apparently only lost one measly pound. Hardly the stuff of legend.

I'm consoling myself in the belief that different scales in different places are bound to give different readings. But at least I have a benchmark to work from now. If in a month's time those same scales in the same place still tell me I'm 12 stone 9lb I'll know that the problem really lies with me.

Another thing about losing weight is that there are bound to be daily fluctuations and most experts advise you to weigh yourself once a week at the same time to check your progress.

The problem is I find it impossible not to jump on the scales every time I go to the bathroom - yesterday for example I must have weighed myself about eight times.

Hopefully the novelty will soon wear off.
