Can Sweating Help You Lose Weight?
Tuesday January 15th 2008, 3:11pm
The postman delivered two packages today that I've been eagerly awaiting.
The first one contained a brand spanking new copy of The Calorie Carb And Fat Bible which I'm looking forward to getting my teeth into (metaphorically speaking of course - I'm not that hungry!). It certainly looks like a comprehensive guide with regards to the calorie, carbohydrate, protein and fat content of every food you can think of.
It also includes a section on eating out which should prove rather useful next time I'm deciding between a Big Mac (492 calories) and a Subway Spicy Italian (491 calories).
The second package contained a packet of four Sweatz Training vests which I paid £4.99 plus postage and package for.
According to the wrapper, "Sweatz Training vests are a revolutionary new product for anybody who is wanting to massively improve their weight loss, physique, fitness and health."
Basically we are talking plastic bag vests
that make you sweat when you are working out. Much the same as making a neck and two arm holes in a bin liner, but apparently without the toxins.
Again, according to the wrapper, "a 30min workout with your Sweatz training vest can burn off at least another 600+ calories, but also gets rid of all the undesired toxins in your body which hinder weight loss."
It also says "fat becomes water soluble at 43°F so the body can sweat it out".
I'm not 100% convinced by some of the claims, but have decided to give them a go and will let you know if they work or not.
One quick thing though. Water lost through sweating needs to be replaced as Sweatz rightly point out so if you are thinking of going down a similar road make sure you drink water or a sports drink before, during and after any exercise that has you sweating like the proverbial pig.
